What paint for indoor Victorian 3 storey staircase?

Very steep early victorian stone staircase, that is currently covered in laminate(!!!). We canot afford to carpet at present as we need all the fittings for the stair carpet as well- we ahave had many quotes. So the current plan is to strip the laminate and paint the stairs - white on the outside and colour on the middle so that in future we can put carpet down. So...What kind of paint and any suggestions for getting the lined right for the curving staircase and the centre colour and does the paint afford any grip as we have small kids! Thanks so muchWhat paint for indoor Victorian 3 storey staircase?
I think if you ask at your local DIY depot they will be able to give sound advice.

Good luck....What paint for indoor Victorian 3 storey staircase?
Most large home improvement stores(IE: Lowe's, Home Depot) carry a paint for stone or cement. To make it more slip resistant add fine sand to it. Instead of painting a second color, why not get a small can of another paint and a sponge cut out shape to just add interest to the steps.
You can just use floor paint (the sort they use in factories and available from Screwfix). But a stone staircase sounds lovely, why paint it at all? Why not paint the laminate, rather than the stone.
