How do i remove cigarette smoke/tar from indoor painted walls so that i can paint them?

I used ammonia and water and it worked great. I didn't even need to repaint when I was done. Just follow the directions on the back of the bottle, and make sure the room is well ventilated. How do i remove cigarette smoke/tar from indoor painted walls so that i can paint them?
Start out by spraying grease lightning on the walls then take a swiffer mop and go over them. It make take a couple of times before it gets done...The first time you do it, it will be a little streaked....After you get rid of the tar then use kiltz, after that paintHow do i remove cigarette smoke/tar from indoor painted walls so that i can paint them?
on a personal note i used murpy oil soap. its inexpensive. and buy a cheap sponge mop . mix the soap as the bottle directs you to and dip your mop and go to town.

also just so you do not mess up your sponge make sure all your nails are out the walls
Well, you could spend time scrubbing with bleach or a cleaner, but the best thing is just prime over the walls before you paint.
Wash walls with a TSP solution if it is a large area you may just want to prepaint with Killz tinted to act as a primer coat to your finish paint. Good Luck!
TSP is the best thing on the market for prepping any walls for paint. Then use a good undercoat.
I washed mine with dawn detergent the dark blue kind.
I use bleach and water, seems to do the trick.
Ammonia works the best
