What is the best indoor paint brand?

I am painting a room in my house and I don't decide on the brand. What are your personal preferences?What is the best indoor paint brand?
Velspar, hands down. As a professional, I'd use this every time if it were up to me. One coat every time. Goes on smooth and drips very little.What is the best indoor paint brand?
sherwin williams paints . the pro mar group is great and they carry some martha stewart colors too
I like Behr paints. Porter Paint is a good brand, as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the ';name'; brands for an indoor room. It's not like painting the exterior, which is far more costly to change if you decide you don't like the color after a year or so.





If you are unsure how the color will look on the walls, especially in different lights, buy a sample and paint a small section of wall or a paint board that you can prop against the wall. You can move it around from area to area in the room, viewing how the light hits it and how it looks with furniture, baseboards, carpet, flooring, etc.
Kilz brand now comes in colors. Coverage in one coat!
For my preference as an Interior Designer, I choose Duron. It is its own stand alone store with endless selections of colors and types of paint. Not to mention it is a leader in new paint technologies. It can be used in both commercial or residential settings and the people who work in a Duron store specialize in what they sell so you'll get professional information with every purchase. Not to mention you can order your paint online and pick it up at a nearby location. BAM! Time and money saved!!!
Paint is ALWAYS a trade off on quality vs. price. That is to say, a paint contractor trying to maintain competitiveness will have a hard time selling a job with Pratt and Lambert paint when all the other quotes the homeowner got are for paint that is $50 a gallon cheaper (sometimes works out to a $500 difference on a whole house).





Benjamin Moore and Pratt and Lambert are without a doubt very good paints. However, as they are good quality (have high concentrations of titanium dioxide - better coverage), they can be problematic for a do-it-yourselfer. Because of the quality (high resin content as well), a contractor has to be careful to thin it 8-10% and maintain those concentrations over the hours he is working. Otherwise, the paint does not spread properly and/or dries too quickly. Any painter with experience knows what I mean.





On the other hand, using a $20 a gallon paint like what Home Depot or Lowe's sells will guarantee you 2 coats, sometimes a third (way more cost in paint) as these products have low TiO2 concentrations (this is where much of the expense is).





For anybody that tells you to use a good paint that will cover in one coat, they are misleading you. Always put two coats of paint on whatever you paint - it is for durability (ie. washability).





Paint quality and cost is often a trade off so do some research.

I always buy American Tradition paint from Lowes. It is made by Valspar, and has performed exceptionally well. I've done my whole interior in American Tradition eggshell paint in various colors. I have tried other brands such as Behr and Sherwin Williams, but always come back to AT.
We moved into our home last year and have painted all the rooms! We either used Sherwin Williams or Pratt and Lambert brand. They are equally good in my opinion, didn't have a problem with coverage at all. Of course, with some colors you must do two coats no matter what the brand. Anyway, I like to do two coats just to make sure I haven't missed anything. If your paint isn't performing well- missing spots and not getting into the texture of your walls - perhaps you should try a thicker roller. The 3/4 '; ones work very well.
